A Note from Andrea
Last week, I mentioned how I’d been on an adventure of discovery, trying to decide precisely which direction I wanted to take Fearless, Fabulous Life. For about ten months, I made real headway in building my business and seeing what I had wanted for so long come to be. And then I suddenly found myself stalled and unsure about what to do about it.
I finally admitted to myself that my business building knowledge base had a few swiss cheese-like gaps. So I set about filling them up, gaining key skills and expertise from the best sources. [Here I am with my friend Ulwyn Pierre, unwinding after a workshop in Baltimore.]
I spent significant time thinking about exactly who is my primary audience and what are the best services I can offer. I determined that above all else, my progams and public presentations need to reflect my genuine desire to help rekindle passion and zest for life.
I now have a much clearer focus on a small set of important activities, so I can spend most of my time inspiring women at midlife.
This week’s article is about never giving up. If you have a dream or vision for something that you want in your life, it’s critical that you do everything you can to honor your heart’s desire. There is nothing more soul-crushing than being out of integrity. Admit to what you want and what you must change to get it.
It was important to figure out what was providing unnecessary distraction from my business and personal success, and also what most needed attention. I'm thrilled to report that I’m more clear and committed than ever, and growing faster and in more directions than I had ever imagined.
With support & enthusiasm,

The World’s Fastest Indian
Based on a true story set in 1967, this drama follows 67-year-old grandfather and New Zealander Burt Munro (Anthony Hopkins) as he flies across Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats and blazes into the record books at 183.586 mph on his customized Indian Scout motorcycle.
You just have to trust me on this video rental. I had my doubts, but the story made me laugh and cry in all the best ways. This little movie is testament to never giving up on dreams.
Simpleology Software
I often recommend Simpleology 101: the Simple Science of Getting What You Want to my coaching clients. This course and software is a F*R*E*E resource anyone can use to organize goals and tasks. And they finallly introduced a Mac platfom!
It trains you to focus on the most important things in a playful, yet highly effective way. Daily targets, dreams, observations, and delegated tasks can all be managed from a desktop "cockpit." Deceptively “simple,” yet effective in tracking goals and eliminating the junk. With the new year upon us, it might be worth your time to check it out.
There are other courses available for a reasonable cost: Simpleology 102 - The Simple Science of Money and Simpleology 103 - The Simple Science of Personal Energy.
Get yourself organized for follow through, completions, and “kick butt” mastery in 2008.
Feature
Never Give Up!
Do you find yourself coming back to the same dreams and themes each year? Do you cling to ideas you formulated back in your teenage years about what you would do or create in your life? Do you feel the same tingle of excitement when you give your imagination the freedom to hang in that space a while?
Or maybe you’ve shut it all down, and simply smile with bemusement instead of taking yourself and your aspirations seriously.
What exactly caused that massive turn in the road, away from what you most wanted? Can you decipher what the series of perhaps small decisions were that lead you to where you now stand?
Did You Change Your Mind?
Sometimes, our plans morph along the way and we lose track of what it was we wanted in the first place. This isn't always a bad thing. If we're continually evolving and becoming better versions of ourselves and have rewarding activities in our lives, then it is only logical that our perspectives and desires would change, too.
On the other hand, deciding that something is no longer possible can signal either a lack of self-esteem or a reluctance to put in the required work to become successful. Did you meet with early failure and just give up on the whole dream?
Change Your Tactics
Ask yourself, “What will happen if I don’t... (fill in your own blank)?” If you come up with a big nothing—no sense of disappointment or sadness—in response, give it up immediately. Move one. Use your precious energy to do something—anything—besides tend a dead horse. No kidding. Why in the world would you waste another minute thinking about something you know you will never do or get off the ground?
But if you do still cling to the possibility that your dream could become reality, think about how you might come through the back door. When we work the same groove over and over in our minds, we begin to believe that there is only way to achieve our outcomes. Whether we think we need an advanced degree, years of practice, huge amonts of money to invest, or some set of "perfect" circumstances, we're usually wrong.
Success can often be achieved quickly and simply. Revisit your goals and challenge yourself to identify how easily you could make your ideas real. Who or what could help you make your dreams real now?
Where is Your Road Map?
So, are ambling aimlessly through life or actually coming closer to your vision with the passing of time? Can you tell the difference?
Writing or drawing what you most want sets an intention in your mind. If you've ever created a life map or vision board, you'll have had the experience of seeing your desires come to life in your hands. Tools like these can help us create action steps that support making these visions real.
List all the steps involved in creating what it is you most want. Using mindmaps, outlines or simple brain dumps, put on paper what swirls in your mind. Once you get this information out of your head, it becomes much easier to focus and dispatch one element at a time.
Collect the Good Stuff Along the Way
We rarely get what we want or work for in one bug gulp. Usually, small accomplishments and successes build until we reach our unique "tipping point" depending on the goal or project. It's easy to forget to give ourselves credit—or even recognize—how far we've come, especially if we keep generating new and more challenging ideas.
Being patient and recognizing achievement of benchmarks along the way is a habit worth cultivating. Each bite of your dream can be sweet and satisifying. Keep imagining your desired outcome or destination in ever greater detail and color. Make your future as wonderful as you can. But also take time to regularly harvest the pieces of your ideal future you collect and make real with each passing day. Enjoy the journey. And, never give up.
